Jersey City is the second –largest city in New Jersey with a population of over 200,000. Jersey city is located between the Hudson River and the New York Bay; its convenient waterfront location makes it a major transportation hub. For most the 19th and 20th century the city was comprised of shipping docks and manufacturing businesses. Service industries still play a prominent role in Jersey City’s economy its waterfront location continues to help develop what is today one of the nations largest downtowns. The city has cultivated one of its own impressive skylines with the Goldman Sachs building standing as one of the tallest buildings in the world.
As the city continues to prosper it is predicted that Jersey City may become the states most populated city. Jersey City’s ideal location and close proximity to New York City has allowed it to become desirable destination point. Home to many collegiate centers such as University of Phoenix and Rutgers University, Jersey City is a blanket of diversity and heritage.
