What is Viral Marketing? Viral marketing or buzz marketing use pre-existing social networks to increase brand awareness to achieve marketing objectives or increased sales. It can be delivered by word of mouth or the Internet. Video, games, images, text messages or basically any form of portable content.
In order for viral marketing to work three criteria must be met. First, you must have a messenger which may be a market maven or information specialists, social hubs, those with a large number of social connections, or a sales person.
Secondly, you must have a message that is both memorable and interesting. Without this your messenger will have nothing to spur viral marketing.
Finally, you must have an environment. Your environment includes the timing and context of the campaign launch and even the smallest of changes may lead to significant results.
Promotional models may be of assistance with your viral marketing through polling, customer participation, brand advocation, or becoming a spokes model which may be part of a video or audio campaign.
